On April 18, 2017 at approximately 5:15 p.m., members of the Candia Police Department responded to the area of High Street for a suspect vehicle that had fled the scene of a hit and run accident in Hooksett.  The victim of the hit and run was attempting to follow the suspect vehicle as it turned onto Merrill and North Roads.  The suspect vehicle had reportedly passed another vehicle and was traveling at a high rate of speed.  Near the intersection of North Rd, Currier Road , and New Boston Road, the driver of the suspect vehicle lost control and struck several trees and some large boulders.  The drive train was ripped from the vehicle due to the violent impact.  Katherine Bentley, a passenger, and driver Michael Stevens, was taken to the hospital.  It was learned that there was a court order prohibiting Michael from being with Katherine.  At the hospital, Michael Stevens was charged with Reckless Operation, Stalking, and Breach of Bail Conditions.  The case remains under investigation.
