The treasurer is responsible for the custody, deposit and
disbursement of town funds. The treasurer pays out town money
only on orders of the selectmen, with a couple of exceptions.
The treasurer submits books, vouchers and statements to the
selectmen and to the town auditors whenever requested. With
approval of the selectmen, the treasurer invests excess funds
in United States obligations, New Hampshire savings bank
deposits or certificates of deposits of banks incorporated
under New Hampshire laws or national banks in New Hampshire
or Massachusetts.
