FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – March 16, 2020
From the Candia Fire Rescue – Response Procedural Change
Due to social isolation procedures and in an effort to protect our first responders, the Candia Fire Department in coordination with the Town of Candia and Emergency Management, has updated our procedures when responding to emergencies.
Initially, some personnel may not immediately enter a residence for medical emergencies. The EMT or Paramedic will make initial patient contact and determine risk factors for potential communicable illnesses. Personnel may also enter your residence wearing masks, gowns and face protection. This is in keeping in line with CDC recommendations for EMS/Fire personnel.
Furthermore, ambulance transport of non-critically ill individuals to the Emergency Department is not recommended for COVID-19 testing or concern. Individuals should contact their Primary Care Provider’s office (or 211 if you don’t have one) to discuss your case and recommendations. This is also a CDC and State of NH DHHS recommendation.
We appreciate your support in protecting our first responders.
