- Stone Wall Preservation and Protection
The Heritage Commission supported a warrant article at
the 2003 Town Meeting for the protection of stone walls.
Town voters approved the article. Commission members
oversee the ordinance, are responsible to report violations
and can express commendation to property owners who do
restoration of their stone walls. Most stonewall questions
arise during the driveway permit process.
No person shall deface, alter the location of, or remove
any stonewall which was made for the purpose of marking
the boundary of, or which borders any road in the Town
of Candia, except upon the written consent of the Planning
Board and the Board of Selectmen.

- Architectural Standards
The Heritage Commission worked with the Planning
Board to write and adopt architectural design standards
for commercial and industrial buildings. These standards
(Procedure and Requirements and Architectural Design Considerations
) will be found in the Major Site Plan Review. The purpose
and intent of this document is to provide development and
renovation standards for commercial, industrial and institutional
structures that shall ensure architecturally consistent
and aesthetically pleasing structures styled to complement
the traditional New England heritage of Candia. These standards
are not intended to restrict innovation or variety. They
are intended to support and encourage property development
as envisioned by the Candia Master Plan.
- Participation in New Hampshire the Beautiful with a Town-wide

- Promote Appreciation of Historic Candia

of the incorporation of Candia as a town.
