Do you have a desire to keep your own backyard poultry? Join Back to Nature Farm and the Candia Agricultural Commission for an introduction to keeping poultry. In this lecture farmer Rich will touch on the basics to rearing your own healthy, happy, and productive birds. Topics include:

Of course, questions of any kind are welcome and encouraged. Keeping your own birds can seem daunting at first. This lecture's goal is to help those who are just starting, or are considering making the leap into backyard birds.

 

Learn How To Make Apple Butter!

Lecture Series - Learn how to make apple butterEvent Details: Come spend the morning with Tracy Blevins while she teaches you the ins and outs of canning and making apple butter. $10 fee covers all your supplies. You will go home with 2 cans of apple butter. Limited to 9 students. You must preregister and pay class fee prior to our Nov 4th event. Oh Rats! I Got Rats!  (Ratology: Solutions revolutionizing rat control)

Lecture Series - Ratology-Solutions revolutionizing rat controlEvent Details: Come join us and learn from Wendy Berry of Lasting Legacy Farm Ratting Ratties, a rat hunter that brings her team of Rat Terriers to areas that have rat issues. She educates her clients on how to think like a rat to capture your rat vermin, animal husbandry skills, farm management and trapping skills that work. She also carries a Rat Birth Control product she and her clients have used. All of this holistic approach gives you a fighting chance if you have rats. Or if you don’t have them now learn what to look for to avoid them in the future. All methods are environmentally safe.

 

The Survival Story of Moose in New Hampshire

Lecture Series - The Survival Story of Moose in New HampshireEvent Details: You’re invited to join us as a NH Fish and Wildlife Steward shares information about moose in the state. Learn about the natural history of moose, where they are most likely to be found in the state, and about how climate change is impacting their survival in New Hampshire. You’ll learn that moose are skilled swimmers, how parasites decrease moose survival, what their current population numbers are in the state, and help you understand what you can do to help the largest member of the deer family. New Hampshire Fish and Game is working to better understand the issues facing moose and developing strategies to save this large icon of the New Hampshire north. Also, hear about the amazing federal funding mechanism that supports long-term research and is largely responsible for our country’s abundant fish and wildlife.
